Another company I had had my eye on while in Kenya was
Kazuri beads (
kazuri means 'small and beautiful' in Swahili). While randomly looking for another shop in Nairobi, my friend and I stumbled into the home of Kazuri Beads in Karen. In addition to seeing beautiful, handmade ceramic beads, I also got the chance to see their workshop which employs low-income, mostly single mothers, Kenya women. It's truly amazing how all these tiny beads are made and how much detail and patience goes into them!
