Seya by Sangare

Malian heavyweight musical champion Oumou Sangare just released (as in yesterday) a new album Seya which you do not want to miss. This is the title track and the rest of the album is equally amazing. I particularly love the beats on "Iyo Djeli" and "Wele Wele Wintou." A strong advocate for the rights of women, songs such as "Wele Wele Wintou" tell fathers not to marry their daughters off before they are mature. Even if you are not fluent in the Bambara language of Sangare, you will certainly recognize the beauty and power of her song.

Have a great weekend!
