Don't you just love that "YES" feeling? I'm referring to that feeling when you see something (or even a moment in your life) when there are no doubts in your mind, the answer is unequivocally YES. Well, that's exactly how I felt at seeing the work of Angolan-born artist Ricardo Paula. His subjects are usually children, clowns, and generally happy things yet there is a darkness in the painting that is barely beneath the surface. The paintings make me think that in a few quick strokes of his brush, Paula could have easily made these paintings into something dark and scary. That's what makes me love his work even more!
