Sounds of Africa: Tamikrest

It feels like forever since I last posted about music from the continent that is inspiring. To be fair, I've barely listening to my portfolio of songs in what feels like ages. If it isn't NPR or random songs on Pandora I just haven't heard it recently.

But 2011 is a new year and I remembered how exciting it is to come across music that just moves you. So today I wanted to jump back on the wagon with the Malian group Tamikrest. They combine everything that is desert music from their country but mix it with some electric blues that reminds me of the west! Songs like Tamiditin force you to sway to their beat while others like Aicha really show some global influences and just hypnotizes you!
