Tuesday's Design: The Bootstrap Project
It's more than fair to say that The Bootstrap Project is aimed straight at my own heart! Maxine Kaye use to work on the non-profit side international development (umm - yup, exactly what I do in the daytime), got frustrated with some of the inherent inefficiencies and frustrations of the business (ummm - something else anyone in this business can relate to), and through trial and error, is now working to bring business, not aid, to local artisans in various countries in Africa and elsewhere.
Ok, that's all good and lovely, but add in a good presentation of said local artisan goods and you really have me going ga-ga! The Bootstrap Project is does all that and more! Wonderful baskets, tableware, poufs and more the center stage when cast against white walls and simple furniture which makes them pop even more! Once you get drawn in, you also get to know that your purchase is going directly to the artist!
Oh - and did I mention that the items are so reasonably priced?!?!

This is truly inspiring. Thanks!
I like the group of poufs and the fact that it supports a good cause is a bonus.
That basket collection looks fantastic! My mum has a beautiful collection from back home which is currently in a closet and just might have to be relocated to my living room wall...
MSC - The pouf are really fun and SOOO much more affordable then the similar ones from Anthro!
Escapade - I would def got those out of mum's closet asap! :)
Great aesthetics and great initiative!
