Rescue of Orphans

Let's end the day with what might just be the cutest collection ever! Photographer Michael Nichols captures the lives of baby elephants in Kenya who have been orphaned by poachers, but who get a second chance at life through the intense work of folks at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. I particularly love these two shots. The first because it highlights the Trusts' efforts to educate young Kenyans about this crisis taking place in their country. The second shot is also captivating because it highlights the bond between the elephants and their caretakers* and the immense satisfaction this work must bring to these people. You can check out more of the pictures here and read the full article here at National Geographic.
