Flickr Finds Africa: Week 01.04.10

Here we are in the first full week of a brand spanking new year! To kick things off, let's start with these amazing railway pictures from southern Africa by Dutch photographer Ernst Schade. Having experienced the railway systems of Europe and to a sadder extent the Amtrak system in the U.S. the railway systems in Africa leave a whole lot to be desired in terms of working in the first place and efficiency, let alone class. All of that withstanding, the images in this collection prove that there remains aesthetically beautiful. Mr. Schade spent many years working in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique and while he is now based in Portugal, he still travels to the continent to capture such stunning images. You can see more of these railway pictures here. You can also visit his website for more of this images from around the world.
