Through the Lens: Photo Camp - Botswana

This morning I was looking at a blog post that featured amazing photography by a 16 year old and I was once again inspired by many avenues young people have these days to show off their talents. That's also one of the reason why National Geographic's Photo Camp program is really interesting. This company sets up came each year with low-income kids both in and out of the U.S. and provides them with skills and resources for them to record their world through their eyes. The 2009 camp took place in Botswana gathering 15 young people hooking them up with amazing cameras and training and setting them lose in the Selindi Reserve. These are two of my favorites.

You should also check out Peace in Focus, an organization run by my friend Kyle. They also do youth photo workshops - including in Liberia!
