Art Scene: 2010 Fine Art

In a matter of 42 days and 6 hours, the biggest party to hit the continent of Africa will officially kickoff!! Just how excited are you about the upcoming Fifa World Cup in South Africa? This is one of the greatest opportunitities for the continent (not to mention a little pressure on South Africa) to really shine not just on the field, but off it as well. In walks South African Craig Mark with his project 2010 Fine Art and his passion "for African art and a powerful belief that the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ was an opportunity to bring the world to Africa and take Africa to the world – through art."
In addition to gathering artists from all over the world, 2010 Fine Art has an amazing collection of work by African artists from Ghana, Algeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania and more...all focused on showcasing art inspired by the passion of the game!
André Lucky Lukifimpa - DRC

Clint Strydom - South Africa

Keith Calder - South Africa

Isaac Sithole - Mozambique

This is just a tiny selection of what is on the site but between Calder's bicycle kick metal sculpture (which is seriously blowing my mind) or Lukifimpa's portrait of a soccer player you can be assured that this collection of art is worth every view (and purchase)! Really the whole site just gets me even more excited about the games!!
