Art Scene: Ofili in the Tate

I'm going to say something quite shocking: I have not been to the Tate Museum. I know. Insanity. Two (albeit very short) trips to London and I still have not strolled the halls of that museum. Have you? If not, or even if you have, why not come along with me right now? I know you are thinking: Brandie, you are in D.C. and I'm in ______[fill in the blank], how on earth are we going to go to stroll the halls of a museum together?? Well, well, well, why on earth should we let a silly thing like geography get in the way....

Thanks to the those kind geniuses at Google, the Art Project allows us to take a google earth inspired tour through a museum together so come along with me to the Tate. First up: Chris Ofili who you know i love....

From afar, this piece looks really awesome, but this isn't the museum where security guards give you the one-eye if you even think about stepping too close to the artwork. Let's really get in there and notice that the tears are actually filled with images of a young man and while we're at it, can you please switch off the lights so we can check out the cool hidden message written across the canvas...can you see that?? I know right! pretty amazing...why don't you check that out for another minute while I go and search out another cool painting...

I have been trying to find prints of his artwork for the longest and no luck. I lived in NYC when The Studio Museum had an exhibit a few years back but I missed it. No luck, yet!
